« Google » est à la base un mot forgé pour désigner le moteur de recherche créé, en 1996, par Larry Page et Sergey Brin, étudiants à l’Université de Stanford. Baptisé dans un premier temps «googolplex» (le nombre 10 élevé à la puissance gogol, soit suivi de 100 zéros pour symboliser la quantité des données récupérées), ce mot forgé fut éventuellement abrégé en «googol» et mal transcrit en «google». Le verbe «googliser» a fini par faire son entrée dans le Larousse pour signifier «chercher sur Google» et, par extension, «s’informer sur (quelqu’un, quelque chose) en interrogeant ce moteur de recherche».

Kodak: Coined by founder George Eastman, who favored the letter ‘k’ (thinking it strong and incisive), he tried out various new words starting and ending with ‘k’. He saw three advantages in Kodak: It had the merits of a trademark word, it would not be mis-pronounced, and it did not resemble anything in the art.
