Il importe de distinguer le macrocontexte des autres types de contextes, à savoir : le microcontexte, le contexte verbal et le contexte cognitif.

سياق يشمل النص بكامله أو قسمًا كبيرًا منه.

يجدر التمييز بين السياق الأكبر والسياق الأصغر والسياق اللفظي والسياق المعرفي .

يشكّل فصل من رواية سياقًا أكبر. تجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ مفهوم السياق الأكبر لا يشمل المقام في حين أنّ مقاربة التحليل الشامل تأخذ السياق الأكبر ومقام النص في الاعتبار.
