- Contexte
La déverbalisation est le stade que connaît le processus de la traduction entre la compréhension d’un texte et sa réexpression dans une autre langue. Il s’agit d’un affranchissement des signes linguistiques concomitant à la saisie d’un sens cognitif et affectif.
- Note
1- Le rapport entre le signifié et le signifiant est non arbitraire et nécessaire car il fonde le signe lui-même. Par contre, le rapport entre une réalité elle-même et un signe (la signification) est, elle, arbitraire et elle est le résultat d’une convention entre les individus d’une communauté linguistique particulière.
2- Le signe linguistique renvoie à un référent.

كيان لغوي لا يتجزّأ يتألّف من الدال والمدلول معًا.
- السياق
يعتبر عالم اللسانيات دو سوسور أنّ « اللغات » (الفرنسية، الألمانية، الإنجليزية،…) هي أنظمة لا يكتسي الدليل الألسني دلالته فيها إلا بالعلاقة مع بقية الدلائل الألسنية. والدلائل الألسنية لها « مدلول » وللدلائل الألسنية في مختلف الأنظمة اللغوية مدلولات مختلفة. فعلى سبيل المثال، مدلول كلمة mouton الفرنسية (خروف) لا يقابل مدلول الكلمة في الإنجليزية Sheep/Mutton بل يقابل بالأحرى مجموع المدلولَيْن، ما دام الفرنسي يمكن أن يتناول (لحم) الخروف ويرى خرفانًا في المرج في حين يرى الإنجليزي Sheep في المرج ويتناول Mutton. ويبيّن فارق « المدلول » أنّ ترجمة الكلمات وبالتالي ترجمة اللغات مهمة مستحيلة.
